Plumes of smoke rose from the western coast of Spain near Vigo.
The facilities of Spanish fishing firm Fandicosta suffered after a large fire broke out Monday evening. Its factory in Domaio, Moaña was evacuated and firefighters fought to keep flames from reaching ammonia tanks, according to Faro De Vigo.
Emergency crews specializing in hazardous waste treatment were brought in to empty out the ammonia and damages are estimated between €14 million to €18 million ($15.9 million to $20.5 million) in losses.
