Greenpeace has released video footage showing bycatch killed during commercial fishing trips aboard ships  Greenpace claims supply European giants such as Thai Union's Petit Navire, John West and Princes.

The footage (see video below) was supplied by fishermen aboard Spanish and French industrial tuna fishing vessels.

Greenpeace claims the primary cause for the increase in by-catch is the use of fish aggregating devices (FADs). The green group has created an online petition calling for the boycott of FAD sourced tuna.

While many sectors of the industry limit the number of FADs to 150 per boat, Greenpeace claimed that others, such as Spanish ship owners, do not limit the use of FADs, allegedly deploying up to several hundred per boat.
