Growth in the market share for UK retail discounters is in turn driving expansion at The Big Prawn Company, Managing Director Will Rash explained when we stopped by the booth this morning.

As a result Big Prawn is converting two large potato barns it happens to own into a £750,000 ($1.1 million/€967,953) coldstore and a separate packing plant.

The expansion will result in an increase in turnover to £40 million by the end of the next financial year, and the hiring of 25 more staff – ‘a big deal’ in the small UK town of Melton Constable in which the company operates.
