Viciunai -- which is based in Lithuania and has processing in Lithuania, Estonia, Spain and Kaliningrad, Russia -- imported 14,184 metric tons of seafood for the first half of 2010, compared to 7,967 metric tons for the first half of 2009.
This is being driven by the investment in processing expansion in Russia, said its Director for Eastern Markets, Mindaugas Gudziunas.
“In 2010 Viciunai invested a lot in production capacity building and new technologies. For example, a modern factory was built for shrimp cooking and peeling,” Gudziunas told IntraFish.
