The United States imported 9.2 percent more salmon in the first eight months of 2015 compared to last year, but the value declined nearly 7 percent, according to just-released statistics from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

While the tonnage rose from 209,720 metric tons to 228,936 metric tons from January to October 2015 as compared to the year before, the value fell from just under $2 billion (€1.9 billion) to $1.86 billion (€1.7 billion).
