Marine Harvest value-added processing (VAP) reported second-quarter revenue of NOK 895.9 million (€107 million/$149.7 million), a 2 percent gain over the same period last year.

Profit-wise, the division went from a pre-tax loss last year of NOK 14.5 million (€1.8 million/$2.4 million) to a gain of NOK 44.9 million (€5.6 million/$7.5 million).

The success of Marine Harvest's value-adding arm rode high on the back of strong sales of smoked and pre-packed fish -- particularly in the growing French market, where volumes were up.
