The United States imported nearly 1.8 million metric tons of seafood in the eight months through August, up slightly from 1.73 million metric tons in the same period of 2014, but it cost less in terms of value.
According to the latest figures from the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), the total value of seafood imports during the first eight months of the year amounted to $12.8 billion (€11.4 billion), down 4.5 percent from $13.4 billion (€11.9 billion) a year before.
