US scallop buyers say record high prices aren't likely to fall anytime soon, despite the season opening more than a month ago.
Weather prevented many boats from setting out when the season started Mar. 1, but when it was finally clear enough to head out fishermen had to quickly return as another storm rolled through.
The delay has kept prices of US scallops at or near all-time record highs, according to buyers interviewed by IntraFish. Now that the calendar has flipped to April, fishermen have once again set out with the hope of passable weather and good harvests.
