The outcome of a vote on the introduction of new European Union (EU) seafood labeling rules by the European Council of Ministers last week is stirring up fears of major impacts on exporters and importers.

"It creates an administrative burden and it doesn't serve the consumer," Stephane Vrignaud, fisheries representative to the EU at the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), told IntraFish.
