One of the largest players in the $78 million (€59 million) US farmed trout industry is quitting the business.

Idaho Trout Company is closing, a source at the company told IntraFish on Wednesday. With over 50 years of experience in the industry, the company had risen to become one of the top three producers in the state of Idaho, which is by far the largest trout producer in the United States.

The loss of a major producer could put pressure on buyers, Harry Mahleres, Seattle Fish Company director of purchasing, told IntraFish.
