The world's largest scallop company, Eastern Fisheries, is taking a hard line approach to the expected 30 percent reduction in scallop landings this year for the Atlantic sea scallop fishery.

“We’ve decided we’re not putting any of our boats [scallops] on the auction,” Eastern Fisheries Executive Vice President Joe Furtado told IntraFish, referring to the New Bedford Scallop Auction, which typically sets the price for scallops in the United States.

This is the first time in a few years Eastern has not put its products on the auction.*
