The festive season is driven by a good bargain when it comes to a UK consumer making a purchase decision.
Half the country's shoppers went to an Aldi or Lidl in the last three months, according to recent data from Kantar.
These budget retailers lured record numbers away from the "Big Four" supermarkets, Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons.
Tesco has lost more shoppers than Sainsbury's, Asda and Morrisons, said retail analyst Kantar Worldpanel.
The data from Kantar underlines the pressure on the middle-market supermarkets as an increasing number of shoppers turn to discounters Aldi and Lidl -- Aldi now has four percent of the market.
