British demand for smoked salmon is still high, despite a rise in cost to the consumer, according to the latest figures from market research company Nielsen.
The volume of smoked salmon sold in UK retailers up to May 24 this year increased to 9.9 million metric tons, up 3.1 percent from the previous year.
The value of sales also increased over the period to £231.7 million (€291.9 million/$398.5 million), an increase of 9.6 percent over last year.
