UK retail sales for salmon reached £861.9 million (€1.2 billion/$1.3 billion) for the year ended Jan. 31, up 5.4 percent from the year before, thanks in large part to an ever-expanding market for chilled product, according to the latest Nielsen statistics.
Some 54,300 metric tons were sold during the period, an increase of 2.8 percent from the previous year’s total of 52,800 metric tons.
Chilled salmon sales reached £744.7 million (€1 billion/$1.1 billion), 7.2 percent up from £694.4 million (€958.3 million/$1 billion) for the same period the year before.
