UK-based processor Thistle Seafoods achieved sales of £67.6 million (€85.8 million/$110.8 million) in 2013, an increase of 20.2 percent from the previous year’s total of £56.1 million (€71.4 million/$92.2 million), despite "challenging and competitive trade conditions," due to this year's "broader economic environment," the company noted in recently-released results.
Thistle made a profit of £1.1 million (€1.4 million/$1.8 million) after tax, up from last year’s £858,000 (€1.1 million/$1.4 million).
"The growth in revenue in this environment is particularly pleasing," Thistle said in its strategic report for the year.
