UK first sales in May this year dropped 39 percent in value to £27.89 million (€32.9 million/$45 million) and 31 percent to 16,471 metric tons in volume, compared to the same month last year, according to an EU marketing report (EUMOFA).
Compared with two years ago there is still a significant declining trend -- a reduction of 17 percent in value and 19 percent in volume.
Groundfish, molluscs and crustaceans accounted for around 77 percent of the value and 83 percent of the volume of United Kingdom's total first sales in May 2013.
