Cod sales rose to £342.6 million (€434.6 million/$551.4 million) in the last 12 months, up 6 percent from last year’s total of £323.1 million (€409.9 million/$520 million), on a 3.3 percent rise in sales volume and a 2.7 percent increase in price per kilogram, according to recent Nielsen statistics.
Sales volume reached 41,070 metric tons during the period, and prices recovered to £8.34 (€10.60/$13.40).
A possible reason for the rise in volume sold may be due to the amount of people switching from haddock to cod, according to Gary Hooper of the National Federation of Fishmongers.
