Welsh seabass producer Anglesey Aquaculture is in talks with retail chain Whole Foods Market to supply its farmed seabass to shops in the United Kingdom, and possibly also to the United States.

“Whole Foods has shown interest in our fish,” Kenny Woods, sales manager at Anglesey Aquaculture told IntraFish. “It’s looking promising.”

The company is also eyeing a supply deal Dom International, a Canadian seafood importer. “They’re both keen to buy our fish, which is massive,” he said.

One reason for the run for the Welsh farmed fish is its recent "Grade 1" rating by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS), the best rating available, underlining the sustainable production of the fish.
