German officals are in talks with Uganda on plans to import tilapia from the country, reports New Vision.
“We have Nile perch available in Germany, but demand for tilapia is on the rise," said Uganda’s honorary consul to Germany Nikolaus Schmidt. "I am in contact with German trading companies to import tilapia.”
This was at a meeting with business leaders at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel recently.
He added that there are plans to link the fisheries sectors of Uganda and Germany to enable the exchange of technical knowledge and strategic investment.
