Malaga-based Ubago Group and Spain's Mercadona signed a new exclusivity supply contract for smoked fish products after a four-year hiatus.
Under the terms of the deal, the company will again be a Mercadona supplier, a business model created by Mercadona’s owner Juan Roig in which suppliers have long-term exclusivity with the company.
The two companies ended a prior arrangement in 2011 after Ubago underwent restructuring.
In the years from 2012 through 2015, Ubago invested over €30 million ($33.7 million) in three plants operating in Andalusia, according to La Opinion de Malaga.
