Farmers and exporters IntraFish talked to this Friday, confirmed higher prices are expected for next week.
"Bigger fish in particular are seeing a rise in price," one exporter said. Lower volumes are coming into the market, he said, adding several companies will shut down for the holiday period.
This was confirmed by several other players to IntraFish, who said less fish will be available in the next few months.
Reason for the drop is the "generational change" in salmon, with one-year-olds still showing reduced growth due to the cold winters in Norway.
