The U.S. brought in 241.9 million kilograms of salmon last year worth $1.68 billion (€1.22 billion), up from 241.8 million kilos and $1.65 billion (€1.12 billion) in 2008, the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) reported.

Shipments of fresh farmed Atlantic salmon fillets from Chile to the United States dropped 55.9 percent, to 41.3 million kilos, while value plunged from $610 million (€443.1 million) to $349.3 million (€253.8 million), a 42.7 percent decline.
