Industry players say the cod market will stabilize in 2009, with good demand and excellent supply, and believe current conditions are right for a push in the United States.
The low, stable prices should encourage more sales to the country, which was deprived of once-expensive cod, Fridleifur Fridleifsson, Iceland Seafood International (ISI)'s frozen seafood sales executive, told IntraFish.
“The cod market in the U.S. is nothing like it was before; I don’t see big activity on head and gut cod either,” said Fridleifsson.
“It’s
