At the U.K. High Court on Friday, Mr Justice Hamblen ruled in Seafish’s favor over claims made by British Seafood, awarding unpaid levies and costs to Seafish totaling £750,000 (€867,000/$1.2 million).

In a trial in June, British Seafood alleged Seafish unlawfully demanded £2 million (€2.5 million/$3.2 million) in import taxes on its seafood.

In his ruling, the judge affirmed Seafish’s legal duty to charge levy on all types of seafood, regardless of origin, and said British Seafood must immediately pay £300,000 (€346,000/$492,000) in costs.
