The group told IntraFish the outcome in the case against the U.K. Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish) was “not as we had hoped” but confirmed it will immediately appeal against the decision made at the U.K. High Court on July 24.
“In the light of Justice Hamblen’s unusual decision to immediately grant appeal, we fully intend to do so and remain confident that we will eventually win our case,” said British Seafood Group Business Director Philip Pilgrim.
“We remain committed to challenging this unfair levy on our industry, which places us at a disadvantage to our European competitors, lacks real support through much of our industry in the United Kingdom and which we believe was never intended to cover imports from outside the United Kingdom.”
