Summer is traditionally a healthy time for the chilled seafood industry, especially in salmon, but the seasonal rise was in doubt after consumers began to turn toward more frozen products last year.

However, an unseasonally hot June seems to have helped the sector, as sales of chilled prepared fish rose 16 percent by value and 10 percent in volume in the 12 weeks to July 12, according to figures from TNS Worldpanel.

By contrast, frozen fish fell 4 percent by volume year-on-year.

Wet
