The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification group for Russia's West Bering and Navarinsky Sea is pushing back the assessment process once more, Intertek Moody International said in an update.

The public comment draft report for the two mid-water trawl pollock fisheries is now set to be published in September 2013, with the certification planned to go through in January 2014.

The delay means that, should the Okhotsk fishery gain certification -- which is expected any day now -- only about 60 percent of the pollock harvested in Russian waters would be eligible to use the eco-label.
