Turkish aquaculture has come on its own -- far from the days of its seabass and seabream being ignominiously touted as of Greek, and then as of Mediterranean origin, its marine fish industry has seen spectacular growth in the past decade to emerge as a well-managed industry manned by a handful of big companies.
The next big thing to watch out for is the rainbow trout sector, industry insiders told IntraFish.
“Reaching 100,000 metric tons in trout production in the near future is not a dream,” said Levent Kayi, the general manager of the Turkish division of Skretting, part of feed giant Nutreco.
