Trident Seafoods lost a cornerstone of its company last Saturday with the passing of co-founder Kaare Ness, but the impact of the executive will reverberate for generations, CEO Joe Bundrant said.

"I have great pride in our culture," Bundrant told IntraFish. "He and my dad (Trident co-founder Chuck Bundrant) always referred to it as the Trident family, and Kaare exemplified that."

The two founders met in 1968 while crab fishing in Alaska, but it wasn't until 1972 that the two struck a partnership that would begin with the building of catcher-processor Billikin in Tacoma, Washington in 1973.
