In the first quarter, prices for fresh and frozen tilapia products in the United States were about 10 percent below the last year’s prices, making it an extremely attractive product compared to other seafood, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization/Globefish report said.

"It is likely that the predominant position of China in the U.S. tilapia market will continue during this year, which would mean a further decline in unit value for tilapia imports," the report said.
