Tilapia exec: ASC label 'puts wind in our sails'

Many players involved in the World Wildlife Fund’s tilapia dialogues feard a suitable sustainable label would never arise until the commissioning of the ASC label was announced by the WWF in January, said Regal Springs President Mike Picchietti.

“That put wind in our sails; before that announcement, we really weren’t sure what the certification agency was going to be,” Picchietti told IntraFish.

“Competitively against other certifications, we were questioning where we were going to end up. So the fact that this ASC came in was a home run.”
