There's one Alaska salmon fishery that is keeping its MSC certification

Angry about Alaska’s departure from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) eco-label program? Don’t despair.

You can still buy MSC-certified through 2012 and beyond, despite the Alaska fishery's withdrawal from the MSC program. 

The Metlakatla Indian Community fishery located in tribal waters surrounding the Annette Islands Reserve (AIR) in Southeast Alaska last year was certified separately from the overall Alaska salmon certification, and will retain its stamp.

"The Annette Island fishery is tribally managed, not state managed," the MSC's Kerry Coughlin told IntraFish on Thursday.
