As the United Kingdom celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee this week, it set me to ponder on the state of the fishing industry today compared to what it was 60 years ago.

The conservationists amongst you would immediately say that back then there were more fish in the sea and stocks were not in as much danger as they are today. But that is a much too simplistic summary of how we got to where we are now.
