Chef Tom Douglas is the darling of Seattle. In a city whose once-local brands have gone global -- Starbucks, Amazon, Costco -- Douglas, who has 14 restaurants in the city with three more ready to pop up within the next six months -- has managed to become nearly synonymous with food in the seafood-centric city.

He and his 15 chefs are responsible for $70 million (€56.4million) in food and beverage sales annually in Seattle.
