With the Fifth Pacific Tuna Forum coming up next week, the global tuna market is under scrutiny.

More 30 speakers are scheduled and more than 250 delegates are expected to attend. Stakeholders, legislators and industry leaders will tackle issues such as the fishing closure impacted fishing supply and pushed up prices.

The "prices on the Ecuador tuna market are slowly catching up to their Thailand counterparts, tuna insiders report," according to Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA).

"Some deals closed at $1,500 [€1,330] per metric ton, with the minimum price reaching $1,450 [€1,286] per metric ton.
