Finnwatch led an investigation into two tuna companies, Thai Union Manufacturing and Unicord, and a fruit processing company, all of which produce to the global market.
In "structured in-depth interviews" with researchers, the factory workers, mainly migrants from neighboring countries, described the "forced and child labor, unlawfully low wages, excessive overtime, abuse by managers and unsafe working conditions," Finnwatch said.
