With hours before the US State Department is set to release updated rankings of the Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report, Thai officials told IntraFish the situation in Thailand isn't as it's being portrayed in the media.
Earlier this month, UK news agency The Guardian released a series of stories and videos about human trafficking, slavery and abuse of migrant workers in Thailand's seafood industry.
As previously reported by IntraFish, the Thai government said they've made "significant" progress in investigations prosecutions and convictions of human trafficking and slavery perpetrators, including 674 trafficking investigations by Thai officials in 2013, which was more than double the 306 similar investigations in 2012.
