Fish canning company Anuorn Group Thailand plans to invest INR 500 million ($7.5 million/€6.7 million) into a canning plant and a dry ice manufacturing factory in Eastern Sri Lanka after visiting the area in March, according to the Daily News.
The International Trade Relations Ministry approved the project and the company plans to market about 80 percent of the products in Sri Lanka in hopes to offer more affordable, local seafood to an area that mostly imports its seafood. There are also plans to export to the EU now that the ban has been lifted, according to the news site.
