Retail giant Tesco has opened a new fresh food distribution center in Gyal, just outside Budapest, Hungary for a total investment of around HUF8 billion (US$39 million).
The building itself cost around HUF7 billion ($34.5 million),with the rest being spent on operating systems, according to Sandor Udvarvolgyi, director of the new center.
Tesco's fresh food distribution activities nationwide are now centralized at the 21,000 square-meter site. All of Tesco's 63 Hungarian stores will receive their fresh products from Gyal. Around 150 trucks will leave the warehouse every day, shipping over 3,000 product lines.
