Stevens, the former Alaska Republican who served more than 40 years in the Senate, was confirmed dead Tuesday after a single-engine plane crashed near Dillingham, Alaska. Stevens was headed to a fishing lodge with a number of other people, including former NASA head Sean O'Keefe and former pollock vessel owner and Stevens staffer Bill Phillips.
The victims were identified as Stevens; Phillips; pilot Theron "Terry" Smith, 62, of Eagle River; Dana Tindall, 48, an executive with GCI; and her 16-year-old daughter, Corey Tindall.
