An exec from Kyokuyo Europe, based in Amsterdam, cited increasing popularity in the product across Europe, and said many producers were well placed to capitalize further when the recession lifts.
“Despite the recession everyone is buying sushi in supermarket stores and takeaway shops, and it is getting more established in restaurants,” Marketing Manager Yoshiyuki Takano told IntraFish. “Everybody looks more optimistic for the future operation in sushi."
Kyokuyo Europe is owned by one of the largest seafood companies in Japan, Kyokuyo Co.
