Chicago-based Technomic surveyed 2,500 U.S. consumers between the ages of 18-65 who eat out at least once a week. The survey evaluated consumer satisfaction with the healthy and nutritious offerings of 37 leading restaurant chains.
Bob Goldin, executive vice president of Technomic, said they found a fairly low ratio of consumers was truly satisfied with the chains' offerings.
“I think customers are generally looking for more options,” Goldin told IntraFish. “They want portion size options, healthy options, less fried options.”
Customers reported Subway, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Applebee's did the best job providing healthier alternatives.
