Getting one-on-one facetime with top buyers is arguably one of the hardest parts of selling seafood -- so the suppliers invited to the revamped FirstSource event in Coral Springs, Florida, plan to take full advantage.

"It's an alternative to the seafood show [in Boston]," Chris Fream, national sales director at Blumar USA, told IntraFish at the event, running June 9 through June 11. "You never get this much one-on-one time with buyers."

The event, which connects seafood buyers and suppliers in an intimate setting, kicked off Tuesday with a keynote speaker, a roundtable discussion led by IntraFish, and a "speed dating" event that allowed buyers for companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruises, Publix and Rubio's Restaurants, to go around and speak to suppliers for a few minutes each.
