At the time the move by the Intermarche supermarket group into running its own vessels was viewed with a certain suspicion, but now the Scapeche fleet consists of 17 vessels operating from the North Atlantic to the Southern Ocean, including trawlers, longliners and potters.

Intermarche, unlike other supermarkets that have pinned their faith in aquaculture and imported products, has firmly placed itself behind sourcing its seafood from local as well as distant waters.
