Strong salmon prices boost interest for Fish Pool contracts

High salmon prices have prompted heightened interest for financial salmon contracts on Fish Pool.

The first quarter this year volume reached 20,000 metric tons, an increase of around 10 percent from the same time last year, Soren Martens, managing director at Fish Pool, told IntraFish.

The forecast for 2014 is around 125,000 metric tons, up from 102,000 metric tons for 2013.

Last year commission revenue for Fish Pool totaled NOK 14.3 million (€1.7 million/$2.4 million), more than double that achieved in the previous year.
