Maruha Nichiro's operating profit for fiscal year 2015 ending March 31, 2016, jumped 95 percent year-on-year to JPY 17 billion (€138.2 million/$157.6 million), boosted by strong performances of its overseas seafood processing and trading business.
The Tokyo-headquartered company also saw improved profitability at home, as prices increased for frozen food, and the production at a Gunma Prefecture plant was resumed after the shutdown due to a pesticide contamination scandal in 2013.
