A stowaway onboard Spanish Grupo Calvo’s vessel Montelape was found dead in the interior of the boat on Jan. 17 by a crew member, reports La Vanguardia.
The company said the stowaway, originally from Ivory Coast, was found during offloading operations.
Montelape's skipper immediately informed authorities and the company is trying to find out what happened.
The vessel left the Abidjan harbor in Ivory Coast on Jan. 3 and, according to Calvo, the crew followed all regular procedures without detecting the presence of anybody besides crew members.
