Eddie Benson, who was the top purchasing executive from Dongwon Industries-owned U.S. tuna giant Starkist, will now be buying shrimp and other species for California-based Contessa, a source in the tuna business told IntraFish.
Benson confirmed the move.
Binotto was appointed CEO of Contessa in July, after it was taken over by private equity group Sun Capital Partners.
Contessa, founded by former CEO John Blazevich, went into chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January.
