StarKist President and CEO In-Soo Cho will leave Dongwon-owned US tuna canner StarKist, the company said in a statement sent to IntraFish.

StarKist Board Director Sam Hwi Lee has been named interim president as of Nov. 1.

Cho (pictured) joined Pittsburgh-based StarKist in March 2011, and has since that time had a turbulent tenure that has seen several top executives dismissed as the Korean-owned giant struggled with lackluster US canned tuna market.

Cho dismissed criticism of his management style, in particular inferences by executives both inside and outside of the company that the South Korean and American business styles had begun to clash, and that Dongwon wanted a stronger management presence at operations.
