The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) announced Thursday the opening dates of spring troll king fisheries in southeast Alaska. ADF&G may extend openings if Alaska hatchery contributions are high.
Several fisheries near Ketchikan, Prince of Wales and Chatham Strait are open this week, and other areas will roll out openings up through this week.
Last year, 576 vessels in the spring fishery harvested 42,548 chinook salmon with the most coming from the Sitka Sound, Chatham Strait and Salisbury Sound spring troll areas.
